Respiratory infections are divided into two categories. There are lower RTIs that affect your airways and lungs. On the other hand, there are also upper RTIs. An upper respiratory infection will affect your sinuses and throat.

Bronchitis can be either viral or bacterial. Most cases are viral and cannot be treated with antibiotics. With viral cases, bronchitis treatment is more about treating the symptoms so you can rest and let your body heal. 

When common colds are running rampant and flu season is in full effect, it’s important that you don’t discount bronchitis as another potential viral infection that could be the cause of your respiratory symptoms.
