Dr. Artemio Perez, DO, a Hill Health family medicine practitioner, has always been drawn to medicine. Growing up, he was interested in science, specifically biology, and loved talking with people and hearing their stories—he thinks of medicine as the perfect combination of the two.As a former athlete with sports medicine experience, Dr. Perez strongly believes, "a good diet and regular exercise are the best medicine. If people want to live a better life, they need to be more proactive about their health.""My favorite part about being a physician is helping people take ownership of their health," he says. "I enjoy being my patients' guide as they walk the path to a healthier life, and the smile on their faces when they see results is gratifying."In addition to helping patients, Dr. Perez likes to stay involved in the community. He is the team physician for Northgate High School in Walnut Creek and gives talks to students at Diablo Valley College on sports medicine training every year. In his free time, he enjoys lifting weights, jogging and doing Pilates.
